Galesburg City Council members will deliberate allocating additional funds for a subdivision project this evening.
Local businessman Mark Kleine is requesting $50,000 from the city for his development on Lincoln Park Drive.
According to council documents, bids on the project came in “much higher than expected” at just over $851,000 which led to the request.
The 18-acre, 26 lot subdivision will include both single family homes and two-family residential units.
If council approves, the city would pay a share of $450,000. Money allocated for the project will go toward funding public infrastructure, such as streets and sewers on the property and would be paid back through tax under the Urban Development Action Program.
City administration has recommended approving the measure.
Also on tonight’s agenda includes a bid of $21,290 for Water Main equipment in that subdivision.
Additionally, City Manager Todd Thompson told WGIL Friday that aldermen are expected to approve a budget adjustment reflecting approximately $750,000 in additional revenue than what was originally proposed.
Council will meet in City Hall at 6:30 p.m.
