The Knox County Scenic Drive is a two-weekend celebration of rural heritage, small-town charm, and breathtaking autumn views. Held annually in October, this iconic event invites you to explore historic landmarks, farmsteads, artisan markets, and cozy communities that proudly preserve Illinois’ past. This weeks’ scenic drive runs October 4-5, and October 11-12.
​Travel scenic backroads lined with vibrant foliage as you visit locations on the National Register of Historic Places—from an 1832 log cabin and antique railroad depot to working farms, covered bridges, and one-room schoolhouses. Every stop along the route offers a glimpse into life both then and now, filled with demonstrations, handcrafts, local foods, and authentic midwestern hospitality. Stops include: Dahinda, Farmgate Market, Knox County Fairgrounds, Knoxville, Maquon, St. Augustine, Walnut Grove Farm, and the Wolf Covered Bridge.
