House of Payne

The House of Payne haunted house in Good Hope, IL, will open for the season Saturday, Oct. 19, followed by Sunday, Oct. 20; Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 26-27 and Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 30-31. The family-friendly haunted house, located at 410 N. Union St. in Good Hope, is open each of those nights from 6-9 p.m.

This is the last year to be terrified by the unique Haunted House of Payne in Good Hope. Owners Brad and Sara Payne have decided to retire their scaring of McDonough County residents after the 2019 Halloween season.

The couple opened the haunted house 10 years ago in their four-car garage, and all of the wonderfully scary attractions are handmade by the family. Components of the haunted house are changed and enhanced each year to keep guests guessing.

All members of the Payne family participate in the scaring, and it takes numerous volunteers to put on the haunted house each year. The Payne family wants to thank the WIU and Macomb area communities for their continued support.

Admission to the House of Payne is always free, but the family accepts donations of food or cash to be given to the Loaves & Fishes Etc. in Macomb. Over the years, the attraction has resulted in the donation of thousands of pounds of food to the pantry.
