Sandburg Songbag Concert

Returning to Galesburg for a special Carl Sandburg Festival appearance, Chris Vallillo will perform on Sunday, April 28, 4 p.m. at the Carl Sandburg State Historic Site as part of the Songbag Concert Series.

Chris Vallillo is an outstanding singer/songwriter and roots musician who makes the people and the places of “unmetropolitan” America come to life in song. Performing on six-string and bottleneck slide guitars and harmonica, Vallillo weaves original, contemporary, and traditional songs into an entertaining portrait of the Midwest. He will be performing a variety of music including some Sandburg-inspired tunes.

Carl Sandburg was a collector and performer of America’s folk songs. The series is named in honor of Sandburg’s book, The American Songbag, published in 1927.

This concert is free to the public.   Sponsored by the Carl Sandburg Festival Committee, the Carl Sandburg Historic Site Association, and Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
