VETERANS’ DAY IS POPPY DAY IN GALESBURG

Poppy Day is scheduled by the American Legion Auxiliary for Veteran’s Day, Friday, November 11th.
Volunteers distribute the Memorial Flower in tribute to the war dead, and to contribute to the continuing needs of our hospitalized veterans. All funds derived from Poppy distribution are held in a special account for Veterans Assistance and Rehabilitation. Poppies are assembled by hospitalized veterans at Quincy Veterans Home, and purchased by the local Unit for distribution.
Local merchants have consented to have volunteers distribute poppies at their place of business. We appreciate their support to this worthwhile program.

Those wishing to assist may report to the vestibule at the Legion Home, 571 E. North St. on Thursday, Nov. 10th, 3:00 – 5:00 P.M or call co-chairmen June O’Brien at 344-1661, Alice Johnson at 342-3951, or Bridget Crouch at 342-9696.

Wear a poppy with pride, to honor the war dead, and assist with the needs of hospitalized Veterans!!
